A detailed 3D model of a new screen changer was modeled in high detail to properly establish accurate offset weight loading. Initial results indicated that there was excessive static torque developed on the equipment, generating maximum displacements outside of manufacturer tolerances and excessive stresses per ASME Section VIII Div. 2 elastic stress analysis (using stress linearization and stress categorization).
Revisions were made to the equipment supports, which then showed acceptable displacements and stresses. No issues with this equipment were reported back regarding the operation of this new installation.
