A new set of three centrifuges are to be installed in three adjacent bays in a new structure. 3D modeling and then subsequent conversion to a finite element analysis model (FEA) of the structure’s main and other significant beams were performed. Using manufacturer specifications, mass distribution and center of gravity, mock centrifuges were modeled and added to the FEA model along with their springs and dampeners.
Natural frequency checks are made and compared to the operational forcing frequencies ranges of the centrifuges. Then, transient dynamic non-linear vibration analysis was performed to evaluate both normal operations and various imbalance loads. Comparison of the vibration levels were then made to manufacturer vibration alarm levels.
To date, no indication to any adverse conditions have been reported back about the operation of these three centrifuges.
